The CEE partner organization network is a new regional grouping of seven civil society support organizations from six CEE countries:
Via Foundation from the Czech Republic,
Szkola liderow from Poland,
Nadacia Pontis from Slovakia,
TRAG Foundation from Serbia,
ARC (Asociatia pentru Relatii Comunitare),
Fundatia Pact from Romania, and
HACD (Hungarian Association for Community Development) from Hungary.
The main objective of the CEE partner organization network is to strengthen and develop local communities in the Central and Eastern Europe region. The member organizations seek to improve their support of local communities by learning from each other and with each other. You can read the network declaration here: CEE-Org-Network-Declaration.pdf.
During the network’s start up phase from September 2017 through September 2019, the network will be managed by Via Foundation as part of its ViabilityNet 3.0 program with funding from the C.S. Mott Foundation. Four meetings are being held during this period.
The first meeting took place in Prague on September 25 – 27, 2017 and focused on clarifying expectations, aligning members’ understanding of what constitutes a local community and finding commonalities in issues that communities face in the partner organizations’ countries. You can read more about the first meeting here.
The second meeting took place in Prague on February 26 – 28, 2018. The group explored approaches to working with polarized communities, which was one of the key issues that emerged at the first meeting as a shared concern. The group visited the Černý most community in Prague to learn about how munipal and NGO leaders are involving diverse groups of residents and worked with John Page from the UK initiative More in Common on practical approaches to the issue. You can read more about the second meeting here.
The third meeting took place in Belgrade, Serbia in September 2018. We explored conflict sensitivity approaches to community development with lecturer Aline Brachet. You can read an interview with her here.
The fourth and final meeting will take place in Prague in early April 2019.
