Overview
ViabilityNet 3.0 to is a three-year program aiming to increase community resilience in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) through tangible positive social change in local CEE communities. The program addresses the long-term need for greater community resilience to threats such as recent extreme nationalism, lack of tolerance of immigrants, and political attacks on democracy, which is stressing civil society across the CEE region. We believe that by helping communities strengthen their internal communication and ability to reach compromises, we will help them become better equipped to deal with these challenges and other problems that will arise in society in the coming years.
On a program wide level, the goals are:
-
specific and intentional positive changes in CEE communities that lead to greater resilience in the affected communities;
-
enhancement of citizen engagement, sense of identity, use of local assets and open dialogue between various actors in the affected communities;
-
development of a supportive network of CEE partner organizations exploring ways to collaboratively strengthen support of community work in the specific countries;
-
greater sustainability in grassroots community action through long-term engagement with alumni;
-
linkages between grassroots community action and academia/researchers.
